The Challenge.
Folkestone & Hythe District Council set out to improve the energy efficiency and long-term sustainability of homes across the district, helping residents benefit from warmer, more comfortable and more affordable-to-run properties. Delivering a programme of this scale required a coordinated approach that could manage large volumes of properties while maintaining high standards of quality, resident engagement and regulatory compliance.
With hundreds of homes progressing through the retrofit journey, the Council needed a delivery partner capable of taking properties from initial assessment through to design, coordination and final compliance. Ensuring the right measures were identified for each property, while keeping the programme moving efficiently and providing a positive experience for residents, was essential to achieving the programme's objectives.

More Than Just Numbers.
Working closely with Folkestone & Hythe District Council, our role extended far beyond technical delivery. We became a trusted delivery partner, helping turn retrofit ambitions into a practical, resident-focused programme.
Our assessors gathered the detailed property data needed to understand how homes were performing and where improvements could have the greatest impact. Using this information, our design team developed tailored retrofit solutions designed to maximise energy efficiency while considering the unique characteristics of each property.
By managing assessments, design production, property coordination and compliance under one roof, we helped create a smoother journey for both the Council and its residents. This joined-up approach reduced delays, improved communication between stakeholders and ensured homes progressed efficiently through each stage of the retrofit process.
For residents, this meant receiving recommendations and improvements designed to make homes warmer, more comfortable and more energy efficient. For the Council, it meant having a dependable delivery partner capable of maintaining programme momentum whilst ensuring compliance requirements were met throughout.
Outcome.
Through a collaborative partnership with Folkestone & Hythe District Council, Green Gnomes successfully delivered assessment, design, coordination and compliance services at scale, supporting the progression of hundreds of homes through the retrofit journey.
The programme demonstrated the value of an integrated delivery model, combining technical expertise with effective project management to achieve positive outcomes for both the Council and its residents. By helping identify and develop the most appropriate energy efficiency measures for each property, we supported the delivery of a programme focused on improving housing quality, reducing energy consumption and creating more comfortable homes across the district.
